Excerpt from That Scandalous Night

      "Have we met before?”
“Certainly not,” she quickly replied as if shocked by his question. “We don’t interact with the same crowds, but I have heard of you.”
Amused, he reclaimed his seat beside her and watched her discomfort. He knew his reputation was widely known, but no one had been audacious enough to bring it up to him. In addition, her comment further confirmed his suspicions that her position within society didn’t dictate her attending an event with the upper classes. She was very bold, and he decided he liked that in this woman.
     “Really? What have you heard?”
“I have heard you could ruin a lady’s reputation simply by looking at her.”
He could not tell if she was scared or in awe of him, but either way, he would use it to his advantage.
“Hm, I must be pretty impressive to achieve that.” Her giggle charmed him. The sound flowed through him and nothing could hold back his smile. “Well, I have introduced myself and now all of my sins have been brought to light. Can I at least have the pleasure of your name?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. My name is... Nora.” She looked up at him from under her lashes as if shy.
“Nora, it is wonderful to meet you.”
He took her hand and brought it up to his lips while stripping off her glove. His lips burned as he pressed them to her bare hand. Not satisfied, he then turned it over to kiss her palm. She shuddered. As he straightened and looked at her, he could see the desire he felt displayed on her face. Without a word, he stood and pulled her up into his arms.
